Fame and relatives

It always makes me wonder when I think about my little fame I've gathered and my immidiate relatives sometimes great and monumental moments and wonder why they don't have more fame. My great uncle George Plahetka had a large number of hand to hand combat kills in WW2 in Europe, 52 or 54 or so, yet I know next to nothing else (except at least 4 were nazi officers). His brother, my grandfather, Joseph Plahetka, was a tail gunner on a b-52 in WW2 during a time when Japanese fighters took most b-52's down. His plane plus another survived and I think another two did two with the tail gunners shot out. It's considered the moment when the Pacific war stopped going in the Japanese favor, at least to the documentary that my dad learned about it in and varified with my grandfather later. (As an aside, the past is part of history. I have a great love for the Japanese people and culture.) Any fame I may acquire throughout my life and into my death and after wouldn't be possible without these two people and thousands like them serving and often times dying to protect us. Take a moment and remember them and to thank them if you can.
